Improved final animation.

THE FINAL FINAL SMOOTHIE ADVERT!!

After writing about my final animation and commenting on what improvements i could do to my final advert. I decided that i had left over time to go back and modify my work.
There was quit a lot of changes i wanted to make to my work but the first one i wanted to do was to change the time length. It was around about 5 minutes long and to me i thought that was too long for a advert as if you watch tv normally you have short advert which last about 2-3 minutes so i had to change the speed on the video clips.
I changed the speed to around 4 minutes which i think is alright better then it was.
The next thing i changed was the music in the background i had to change the music because i had changed the speed of the clips so the music was out of sync. I also decided to change the music around so at the end of the advert were the clip rewind i had the 'Rewind' sound effect.
Which i think fits quit nicely with each other.
The last part i changed was the end titles i decided to delete my name from it and i thought it was about the smoothie advert and the meaning and not about who created it. I Also changed some of the effects at the end titles to. So they fade in and out and flip around. Which i think really does add to the advert making it more creative and fun.
Over all the changes i made were small changes but i think it helped my work in the long run, As it improved my work and made it better.

Improved video.

My final animation video ad.

This is my final animation Advert for FOOD!

This sort video is about the theme food (Healthy Eating)
The reason why i chose the topic food was because i wanted my ad to have a meaning behind it. The meaning i wanted to have in my video was healthy eating for children.
I wanted kids aged 3-18 year old, to see that having fruit isn't just a bad thing and that you can eat healthy food in any different ways just as smoothie.
But I also knew not everyone will be willing to make fresh smoothies every time someone wanted a drink.
The easy and quick way would be to buy them.
From this advert people get to see how fresh smoothies are made but with the twist.
How i created this advert was quite complex  First i had to start off by researching  different animations adverts such as the innocent smoothies and and stop motion advert as i decided to include stop motion as a technique in my final project.
After i researched many adverts i started to put a together a mind map full of different types and topics that was all based on one subject food.

After i did a quick mind map i started to get different ideas for a smoothie advert and started putting together quick drawings of ideas i had in my head alot with different names for my branded smoothie.  After that i then put together a how to how to diagram. This actually helped alot with the project on a whole as i wrote down question on how i would make different techniques work and then i had to come up with ways to solve them. So very much solving my own problems.
The idea i decided on was a stop motion animation were i would create a fresh smoothie using all brightly colour fruit to try and make it more interesting and after i made it i would drink it all and then rewind the clip so the smoothie was coming out of my mouth, all the fruit would be come solids again so that children and adults could see that this smoothie compared to other smoothies was only made with fresh fruit and had no added sugar or ingredients.

I wanted to have more then one animated technique in my advert just because it wanted it to look more applying to children and adults watching to show all the cool skills and effects  you can use on a computer to put in to a advert.

The first part of my advert i shoot was the tile (beginning) sequence the text from the name of the smoothie. Which you can see me writing it on a massive paper using stop motion. Taking lots of photos for each frame.
The reason why i called it  'Juicy Boosty'  was because i wanted it to be catchy so people would remember it, The juice with a Boost!

After i filmed the beginning sequence i then began to shoot the smoothie making part. This part took a while to shoot as you can guess quite alot of photos, but the end result was good i got my photos ready for imovie to create my advert! The one important part of my advert was the whole rewind technique. I needed this in my advert to get the meaning across that this smoothie was better then any other smoothie out there in the supermarkets and that the target audience should buy this one.
But this didn't quite go to plan for the rewind effect on imovie you had to take the front the top on the screen down to the bottom and then lay them out back to front to get the 'rewind' effect. It sounds easy and was in the tester videos but not with over 10000 photo which took 1 hour just to upload to imovie.
With time running out and the final deadline coming up on the animation project i had to go back to the drawing broad and think about how i could over come this problem.
After a while of looking around the internet on Google asking question and watching 'how to do' tutorials on youtube i found out that there was a very quick and easy way to do the rewind effect on imovie. And that was to actually film the smoothie making part in my advert not to take photos. Although i had to get rid of the main stop-motion part i really needed the 'rewind' effect in my video so filmed in on my iPhone added to my advert.

With filming on my phone brought a few more problems such as muting the background noise
to make the film move quicker and added the 'rewind' effect and adding any special effects.
Luckily I found on youtube a whole load of tutorials so i saved a whole load of time on trying to figure out to do the effects it was there for me to watch and learn.
After editing in the film sequence i added different effects to my advert such as music, text, colour, font, the size of the font and at the end different fading in and out effects.

I finally fished my advert and i think it looks really good i like the meaning behind the smoothie advert. I think it meets the marking criteria and meets the briefs to.
There are a few things i would change in my video such as the timing. I think on a whole the advert needs to be sorter as its five minutes long. I tried to make it sorter but imovie wouldn't let me so that was out of my hands.
The second thing i would change is the music i like the music very much i find it very up beat but in the advert the music keeps cutting out in different frames so i would go back and change that.
The last thing i would change is the lighting i think on a whole my advert would look more professional in a studio with bright lights.

I enjoyed this animation project very much and would enjoy another one sometime.

animation experiments

My backwards experiments.

Before i started my final animation i wanted to test out one technique which i would use in my advert.
This technique i wanted to test out is the backwards section. This part of the advert i wanted to rewind the frames at the end of the advert to know the viewers watching that this type of smoothie was made from real fruit. Nothing was added to it in the process so its healthy and natural.

How i created this technique was to take photos in different stages for example the first tester i did was the white board. For this tester i had drawn out a picture which i then rubbed off. I took the photos from this and then added them to iMovie. I added them in order and after that i knew what photos went where. After i did that i put the photos backwards and then played it to a peer, this was a simple and effect way of the effect 'Rewind'  So when i played it back it looked like i was rubbing the picture on the white board.

After i played the tester back and saw that it actually worked really well, i wanted to test different objects and different excises to do for example the 2nd one i tried was eating chips. It didn't really work that well it just looked like i was chewing and then taking the chips out of my month.

My 3rd tester was the best one i created it. i thought it was really clever and effective.
How i created this tester was to write a message on a bit of paper and screw it up. And put the paper in my mouth and chew. When i added it to i movie and changed the photos around it looked like i was re-chewing the paper taking it out of my mouth and showing the message to the camera.

My 4th and last tester was with paint. I took a few photos of me squeezing paint on it a glass pad trying to make a smiley face. But when i changed it on i movie it looked like the paint want being sucked up from the glass pad in to the paint bottle. this tester actually looked really effective and i really liked the way it looked.

These testers really helped me gain and improve my knowledge of i movie and the 'rewind' effect and how i would put it all together for my advert. If i didn't test this technique out before my final project i think i would of struggled a lot and would of made me stressed out even more because i wouldn't of known how it worked and wouldn't of had a lot of time to try it out.

project review

Project Review

2. Use Of Materials

Project Review

  • What materials/techniques have you experimented with during this project?
  • adore programes, drawings, ipads, imovie, iphoto, iphone and hd programes, clay motion.

  • What skills have you developed during this project?
  • how to create animated Gif,food imotion, observational drawing imotion, time lapse animation, stop motion, stop nation music video, shape tween and flash.

  • Discuss your use of materials/techniques - explain what you did, what went well, etc.
  • with the Gif it was loads of photos looped to make it move, I really liked using gif and it was a quick but cool animation. The food/observational drawings was alright to do, i don't really like to draw but i found it quit fun to use different pens and watch yourself draw. The stopmation was kind of like a gif but you can add music, text, effects and backgrounds to it. With the shape tween you can to draw a shape in the flash program and make it move/change into different colours and add a face to make it change to different face. And with flash you had to make a person add all the detail in for example the eyes, ears, nose and mouth.

  • Did you experience any problems with the materials/techniques? What were they? How did you overcome them?
  • Yes the flash program was the hardest to use and you had to follow a video setup to show how to work it but it was hard to understand and with out someone to actually show you, It was hard to picture and also know was tools to use and what the tools look like. I overcome this problem by asking a class member to help me.

  • You have experimented with a range of different techniques (animated gif, stop-motion, time lapse, claymation, flash) Discuss your use of each and explain which is your preference and why.
  • The techniques i preference was the claymation and the stopmation simply because i like how you can do any ideas you like and put you're own stamp on it. With the clay you can make it look the way you want it to look like. Also i thought they were easier and more effective out of all of them. As you could add music to them in iMovie and also add text and different effects/backgrounds.

Bob Marley 3 little birds music animation

This is my clay animation
The song i used was Bob Marley 3 little birds
i used the stop motion technique.
Taking a photo of every movement, to make the clay model walk and move he's feet.
Also in the background the birds fly in the tree.
I really like this video but i think it could be longer then just 27 seconds.
The reason I picked  this music/song is because I wanted something tropical and jazzy. I wanted a song that would go with my story line really well. I also wanted to make a man playing a guitar.
How I managed to make this music video is very simple. I first made a background for the music video I made a house and a sun. Then added a clay tree which I made out of tree and brown clay. Using a nail tool to add texture to the top part of the tree. After I made the three birds using orange and blue clay. I used these two colours  because I thought it was eye catching and people would notice them more in the background. After I made the birds I went on to make the two people, I used bright colours for the main person as I wanted him to stand out more. I made the other man with more normal looking colours to make him look like he is wearing clothes. So he would fade into the background so you wouldn't notice him as much. Through out the video I made him move his legs and clapping his hands. The other man who is purple is walking around while he is playing the guitar. And the birds are flying into the tree.

shape tween

Techniques for shape tween flash drive.

layers by clicking the 'new layer' button at the bottom of the layers
animation key frames at different points along the animation timeline to consider when you want various parts of your animation to play.
keyframe at the end of your animation

For this shape tween i added two faces
a happy face and a shocked face.
It was easier to do because i knew how to work the program.

Paper doll animation

music stop animation
This is my finished animation of the journey for the two little paper dolls.
For this video animation tester, the class had to come up with a storyline from an inspring video.
The video that inspired me was the "Dot"animation This animation used small objects which looked really effective. So i decided to use this technique for my animation.
The song I used for "the show" by lenka
The story line to my animation was that i created two paper dolls, that ran away together..
To go on a journey and have to face these different obstacle course, Which were classroom objects such as. paint brushes and paint,  climbing tower of books, going down rope and jumping over paint brushes and by the end they get killed by my hand.
By using small classroom objects i hope that in someways the animation "Dot" really helped me come up with my animation idea.

Final Animation Ideas

Final Animation Ideas

Theme:Food  Product: Fruit/smoothies Target Audience:Children 3-16 years of age.

For my final Animation project i have chosen the theme: food.
For this theme the product i want to try and sell is fruit/smoothies. My target audience is children aged 3 to 16 but really i am aiming it at the younger children.
The Reason why i have chosen fruit/smoothies is because i wanted a fun way for children to eat healthy and to make better decisions towards healthy veg and fruit.
I will be trying to sell this product within an 'advert' using animation techniques.
I have a few ideas for my final project. One is that i'm actually being filmed or someone else is being filmed chopping up different colourful fruit and making the smoothie then drinking it. After they are finished i will then rewind it so you see the film backwards so it looks like the smoothie is turning in to fruit which i think will look really cool.
The other idea i have is that i could using stop motion animation to film the fruit walking towards a chopping broad getting ready to be made into a smoothie. They could be chopping up the dropped in to the blender and after be put in a mixing bowl to which you would see a hand adding the juice to give to come one to drink.
I think both ideas and i think both would work really well. I will have to try and see which one would look more good and effective.

Inspiring Stop-Motion

My 3 chosen inspiring stop motion videos.

  • Why have you selected it?
  • I have selected Marple college stop-motion test, sorry i'm late and Death cab for cutie

  • What is inspiring about it?
  • I thought all was inspiring because of many different reason for Marple college i like how they went in and out of the different college apartments and how he got he's friend to join him in the video.
  • I like how sorry i'm late was shot from a high angle and that some one was actually holding props in front of the camera instead of it being on the floor. So it make it look massive but in actual fact it wasn't.
  • And i also like how Death can for cutie uses the music to base there video on, Just using song lyrcis and using different ways of writing them for example. Using the sand on the beach and using a frying pan to cook out and word.

  • What type of animation is it?
  • Marple college and Sorry i'm late are both stop motion. Which is when you take a photo move a little and take another so when you have about 15-30 shots you can make to seem like the person or objects are moving.
  • With Death cab for cutie they also you stop motion but instead of using person they use some objects and type.

  • What sort of props/techniques have been used?
  • For Marple college they used a camera not on a stand and put it in Photoshop  By not  using a stand for the camera you can see in the video the camera moving around which is a bit off putting also they should of changed the light setting on the camera or in photo shop in some frames as when we were traveling about the college some shot went from really light to also black.
  • For Sorry i'm late like i said before they used an over head angle looking down on the person/ object. Then used quit big props for the person to sit and stand on. But they also used a technique which looked really effective  Were they put a blue paper in front of the camera so it looked like the person was under the sea and also holding objects so it looked like they were the actual size of the person when we was not.
  • For death cab for cutie they used Photoshop to add in text and fading in about out effects but they also used stop motion just taking pictures when we are writing the lyrics out.

  • What could you try in your own work that is inspired by this?
  • I Think i could try all these techniques in my own work as they are all really good and effective.
  • The one i was most inspired by was the Death can for cutie, I just liked the same the pictures which with the video and song lyrics and how fun and creative it all looked and i was think it wouldn't be to hard to do to but also will look really strong light and effective.

time lapse animation using your drawings and my iMotion animation

My time lapse animation using my drawings of food.
This animation was really easy and effective to use. All i had to do was download imotion on to my phone and take a few photos which was set at 0.1 seconds and drawing my chosen food. Which i choose what a ' Go head yogurt bar' it took a few seconds to film and looks really effective . I liked doing the animation drawings because it was so quick and also you can experiment with all types of pens. pencils and fine liners.
After i had made my video i uploaded it to youtube so i could upload it to my blogger.

This is my imotion animation which is all about food!
I decided first of all to make a animation on how to make tea but i didn't work out very well and the position kept changing and you couldn't see what was going on inside the cup.
So that i had a thought about how making bread into toast.
I planned it out a bit better then the cup of tea. I made sure my phone stand in the same place as it started off like. then I was a little longer filming then it was with the drawing because i had to pause  the film alot of the time to make sure you  could see the journey of the bread turning  in to toast and to make sure i had to the best angle to watch it from.
This imotion took about 15 frames on about 5 seconds just so i could make sure i had time to go in and out of the shot to move the bread to make it travel.
Over all i enjoyed working with imotion and i think my bread turning into toast looks really good.
the only thing i would change about it if maybe i could add music to it.

Stop motion comparison

Dot: The world's smallest stop-motion ainmation

One of their biggest successes to date is for Nokia with the films 'Dot' and ‘Gulp’. The spots went on to win Guinness World Records for the smallest stop-motion character in a film and largest animation set respectively.

The artistes are called Will Studd and Ed Patterson, They are an award winning directness who specialising in different forms of animation. Together they are Sumo Science, their aim is to create a
fresh mix of styles using elements of stop-motion, puppetry, 2D and live-action.

Using little tiny objects helps them show how tiny they are actually working. for example using pennies and tiny pins to walk over.
And all this was filmed on a phone nokia N8 using cellscope technology.

CellScope, which is a Nokia device with a microscope attachment, was the inspiration for a teeny-tiny film created by Sumo Science . It stars a 9mm girl called Dot as she struggles through a microscopic world. All the minuscule detail was shot using CellScope technology and a Nokia N8, with its 12 megapixel camera and Carl Zeiss optics.

If i was to do a stop motion i would like to do my like 'dot' I am thinking on using college equipment such as paint brushes, pencils, books, paper etc.
i'm going to base my on 'dot' but change it in many ways. First of all there is only one 'dot' and i am going to use two paper dolls which are flat 2-d shapes not 3-d. In the stop motion 'dot' is running away and so will my paper dolls they will be running away from me and i created them in the first place. They will also come around objects in there way which they have to over come. So in many ways i was inspired by 'dot' the stop motion.

Gulp: The world's largest stop-motion animation

'Gulp' is a short film created by Sumo Science at Aardman, depicting a fisherman going about his daily catch. Shot on location at Pendine Beach in South Wales, every frame of this stop-motion animation was shot using a Nokia N8, also like the stop motion 'Dot'. The film has broken a world record for the 'largest stop-motion animation set', with the largest scene stretching over 11,000 square feet.
I like how  these two videos are about size and content. I like how they have to do they stop motion really small or extra big.
How this sort of video i would have to find a large arena which i could shot my stop motion. I would have to use big props instead of little tiny ones like 'Dot' just to show big scale the stop motion is in fact.
I like both videos very much but i would have to say 'Dot' is the one i was more inspired by and would love to use the small method the best and it would be great on. What objects i could use.

My GIF

My Animated GIF

  • How did you create your animated Gif?
  • i created my gif my using a shot of each pose which was between 10 to 30 photos.  then i went on Photoshop and add them in order of how i wanted them. then i had to open up the animation box which would show me all the different frames. Then i had to duplicate the layers which doesn't take too long and i had to keep doing that to all of my frames. then you change the time settings to 0.1 seconds and then  when i finished doing that i made it on a loop, so it would keep on playing.
  • How effective is your animation? i.e. does it work well?
  • I think my GIF worked really well, i like how i'm doing all the tourist would do on holiday.
  • What could you do to improve your animation? i.e. make it longer / add in some typography / try some different Adobe Photoshop techniques.
  • I thinking adding speech bubbles above my head to act out what i'm thinking would be good. to show that i'm scared because i saw a lion in the background
  • Which artist did you look at for information on this technique?
  • The artist i looked at what Jamie beck
  • If you did this again what would you do to improve? Remember, you might decide to do this for your final outcome so this evaluation could be helpful!
  • If i would do a GIF again i would make an actual background not just use a screen, I also would make props so it would look more effective.
